UMass Boston has completed a series of significant upgrades to the Clark Athletic Center, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing athletic facilities and advancing Title IX compliance.

These improvements represent a comprehensive effort to support student-athletes, elevate the fan experience, and modernize key campus spaces. 

Interior Enhancements: 

• The Upper Level of the Clark Athletic Center has undergone a full renovation to improve both functionality and aesthetics, creating a more welcoming and efficient environment. 

• Four new locker rooms have been added, providing increased capacity given our addition of two women’s sport programs and modernized accommodations for Beacon student-athletes. 

• Individual offices for all coaches now offer dedicated space and privacy, supporting day-to-day operations and team development, and expanded capacity to accommodate the addition of our two new sport programs, women’s lacrosse and field hockey . 

Softball Facility Upgrades: 

• The softball field will undergo a major transformation following the conclusion of the 2025 season, featuring new turf, lighting, grandstands, an enhanced facade, a new press box, and upgraded walkways, creating a premier facility for competition and recruitment.

Technology and Fan Experience Improvements: 

• A new scoreboard will be installed in the gym to match the visual and technical standards of the hockey rink and the upgraded softball field. 

• Video boards are planned for both the gym and rink to further elevate the game-day experience. 
• Sound systems in both venues are being completely modernized, enhancing audio quality for fans, players, and event presentations. 

These upgrades position UMass Boston Athletics for future success and expanded women’s participation opportunities in sports.  They also provide athletes with high-quality facilities while offering fans and visitors a first-class experience.
